Security is high for today's Boston Marathon.
Local, state and federal authorities collaborate annually on an extensive security plan.
Police barricades in Boston have been installed and both uniformed and plainclothes police officers, state troopers and federal agents will saturate the area.
Among prohibited items along the race route, backpacks, coolers, costumes, inflatable items, fireworks, bicycles, scooters, strollers and drones.
Tight security has become commonplace for the event in the years since three people were killed and hundreds injured in a bombing near the finish line.
That attack happened back in 2013.
