Private Schools Accused Of Keeping Prices High For Some Students

An antitrust lawsuit is accusing some 40 private colleges of conspiring to keep prices high for students with divorced or separated parents.

The suit, filed this week in Illinois, says the schools, including Harvard, Yale and MIT, require students applying for non-federal financial aid to disclose the assets of their non-custodial parents.

The plaintiffs, a Boston University student and a former Cornell University student, argue that doing so decreased the amount of aid available to them.
