City Council President Seeks Cut In Planning Heads Paycheck

City Council members in Woonsocket are seeking to cut the salary of an official, for his alleged role in a voided land deal.

Council President John Ward and two colleagues introduced an ordinance to reduce Planning and Development Director Michael Debroisse's pay by just under 11-thousand dollars per year.

They justify the cut, claiming that Debroisse violated the city charter and code of ordinances when he helped push through a 1-point-1-million-dollar purchase of property with city funds initiated by former Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt.

That sale, to Baldelli-Hunt's former employer, Raymond Bourque was reversed because the deal did not go through the City Council.
