Representative Biah Now In Race For Congress

State Representative Nathan Biah is the newest candidate in the race for Congressman David Cicilline's seat.

Biah, a Democrat from Providence, announced his run on Thursday.

"I have always believed that despite our challenges, Rhode Island is the greatest state in the greatest country on earth. We must find a way to come together to solve problems, not further divide our citizens."

He joins a field in the 1st District that also includes Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos, fellow state rep Sandra Cano from Pawtucket, and former governor's aide Nick Autiello.

Cicilline plans to resign from the House to become the president of the Rhode Island Foundation at the end of May.

A special election will be scheduled after that.
