Providence To Celebrate Fourth At India Point Park

The city of Providence is set to celebrate the Fourth of July. It will be for the first time in some three years. The Providence Art, Culture and Tourism Council announcing the celebration set for India Point Park, Sunday July 3rd. Mayor Jorge Elorza says the free event, open to the public will feature entertainment, fun and of course the fireworks.

“We are thrilled to continue bringing back our most treasured summer events with the return of our spectacular Independence Day Celebration,” said Mayor Jorge O. Elorza. “I look forward to joining our community members at India Point Park to celebrate the Fourth of July together again.”

Among the artists performing on the main stage will be local artist Becky Bass-- a two-time New England Urban Music Award winner.

As he has done in the past, the Mayor is asking residents to be respectful. And if they see anything suspicious to report it. The Mayor also says that backpacks and bags may be subject to random searches.

In the event of rain- the festivities will be moved to July 4th .
