Public Hearing Tuesday On Harm Reduction Center Program

The Rhode Island Department of Health is unveiling proposed regulations for the establishment of supervised drug injection sites.

Governor Dan McKee signed legislation over the summer authorizing a two-year pilot program for the sites, which the state is referring to as harm reduction centers.

The regulations include making sure all staff is trained in the administration of anti-overdose medication.

A public hearing on the proposed rules, hosted by the state health department, is set for December 14th.

That hearing is set for 4pm in the auditorium of the Rhode Island Deparmtent of Public Health.
