Governor McKee Says It Is Time To Spend Pandemic Monies

Rhode Island is getting nearly two-billion-dollars in federal funding over the next two years to help with economic recovery from the pandemic.

A legislative task force to oversee spending and state compliance with federal guidelines held its first meeting.

Congress passed the American Rescue Plan Act earlier this year. Under the guidelines, a state has to spend the money.

It cannot simply put it in the bank. Governor McKee says that it is time to start writing checks. Among his top priorities will be child care, small business and housing.
