Newport Pell Bridge To Go All-Electronic In October

(Newport, RI) -- Drivers will soon no longer pay the toll on the Newport Pell Bridge using cash or credit card. The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority says it will move to all-electronic tolling by October 28th. RITBA says 90% of all customers are already using E-ZPass technology, making it the right time to transition to the new model. When the transition is completed, any driver caught driving through the toll bridge without a pass will be charged per axle. Those bills will come to them through the mail.
