First Edition "Frankenstein" sells for record $1.17M !

A first edition copy of Mary Shelley's " Frankenstein " is setting a new world record for the highest price fetched at an auction for a woman's printed work. According to the folks at fine books magazine , the three - volume copy of the novel made some big time history when it sold for one - point - seven - million dollars ! (Wow!) The " Frankenstein " copy , which still bears it's original boards from it's original printing (talk about absolute quality production of books back in the day ! That's amazing !) from it's 1818 printing , had been projected to sell for around 200-to 300-thousand dollars by British auction house , Christies. Christies has said that the first edition was one of only 500 printed in Frankensteins first run and the copy sold was the first to be offered for auction since 1985.
