Stage Artistry Studios of New Bedford is presenting the Disney musical NEWSIES JR on June 9 and 10 of 2023 at Bristol Community College. This is the first production the studio is putting on and it's expected to be close to professional quality with kid actors in the show (students at Stage Artistry Studios) and run from ages 4 to 18.
The message in this musical is a very important one: Newsies is a musical addressing social issues affecting many people historically and in the present day. It presents historically accurate events surrounding the the Children's Crusade of 1899 when the newspaper boys, or Newsies of New York City went on strike because of the unjust increase in price of newspapers. Newsies serves as a reminder of the need to recognize and voice our concerns of social injustices present in our world. It’s an energetic and inspirational story that demonstrates the importance of kids standing strong together to fight for what they believe in.
